Competition Preparation CW 40/2024

So, in just one week, the next competition is here, and I’m feeling really good! I think no one is ever 100% prepared or feels completely sure, but I have this huge excitement to perform my choreography on stage. It’s going to be amazing! I’m just so in love with my choreography, and I know myself well enough now to know that I will give it 200%. I’m going to dance with everything I’ve got, and the rest will happen as it’s meant to. I think that’s why I’m approaching this so calmly.

My trainingsweek - Tapering-Off Methods

This week, I’ve reduced my training significantly, and I’m trying out the “tapering off” method. Have you heard of it? It’s a strategy used in many sports before a competition, and I thought I’d give it a shot.

The basic idea is to reduce the training volume while maintaining intensity, which maximizes recovery and keeps performance levels high. So, I’ve cut down my training sessions this week, but during the time I do train, I’m keeping the intensity the same. This weekend, I’ll be doing two run-throughs of my choreography on both Saturday and Sunday to give it my all before the big day.

I’ve also received the start time for the competition, so I’m planning to train at the same time to get my body used to the rhythm (including timing for meals and energy levels). After that, it’s going to be full rest until the competition. Well, except for teaching my class on Tuesday, but I’ll make sure to do minimal training during that session.

My Make-Up Rehearsal

As for my makeup, I’ve tested it out, and I’m really happy with the first attempt. What’s giving me a bit of a struggle is knowing that I get six points each for costume, hair, and makeup. My Pole Single Advanced performance doesn’t have a super detailed concept that requires crazy makeup, but I know in the back of my mind that it needs to match the overall vibe. Let’s see what the judges think! I’m definitely not a makeup artist, but I was pretty pleased with my first go.

Other than that, I’m feeling fit and well-prepared. I’ve been eating well and hitting my protein goals. I actually wanted to show more of my preparation on Instagram, but every time I plan to post more, I lose motivation. I really wanted to share my detailed prep for Steel on Fire, but let’s see – maybe I’ll manage to post more tomorrow.

That’s all for now! ❤️
