This weekend, we had another intense competition training session for Steel on Fire, which is happening in October 2024. Fortunately, the basic concept of both choreographies is already set – but we haven’t danced through either one in its entirety yet.
First, I trained with my duo partner. We went through each combination step by step, and this time it worked much better in terms of sweating and grip. She still sweated a bit, but it was definitely better. She also bought sticky leggings last week to give us a better grip during training. We completely removed one move from our routine and replaced it with another – it just fits better into the overall picture, and we have a more secure hold in this move. However, I noticed at the beginning of the training that my partner was a bit frustrated because of the slipping – one of the biggest struggles in pole 😅.
But I’m still feeling very optimistic.
Then, two hours later, when our coach arrived, we agreed to show her the choreography once all the way through. This way, she could give us feedback and improvements, and we would still have enough time to implement her tips. And what can I say: adrenaline works wonders 🤣.
We were so pumped that we managed to go through the entire choreography from start to finish! It wasn’t pretty yet – but we still have more than two months to polish it!!!
Our new minimum standard is to go through our choreography at least twice in each competition training session. This will help us improve and refine our performance.
To-Do List for Pole Double Intermediate:
Make props
Finalize the song
Fill out the moderation and technical sheet
Order costumes
Practice, practice, practice
The concept for my second choreography (Pole Single Advanced) has also been set for a long time. I went through the concept with my human prop (I find that term sounds really cool every time 🤣), and we tried out different entrances and exits on the pole. Since he’s “just” a prop, he’s not allowed to touch the pole and can’t steal the show from me, so we came up with some creative solutions.
To-Do List for Pole Single Advanced:
Finalize the song
Fill out the moderation and technical sheet
Order costume
Stage a full run-through
Practice, practice, practice
I’m excited to see how the next few weeks will unfold.
Stay tuned! ✨
